Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) Award Winners Announced


 

THE Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) association held its Manitoba award gala in Winnipeg on Thursday, March 12, 2009.

At the event, Peter Pakosh and Roy Robinson were inducted into the Manitoba Manufacturers' Hall of Fame as Pioneers.

I was honoured to accept the award on my grandfather's behalf.

Can-Oat Milling, a Portage la Prairie-based processor whose clients include some of North America's largest food companies, is this year's Export Award recipient, the CME said in a statement.

The Emerging Award is shared by Genuwine Cellars and Acrylon Plastics, both of Winnipeg.

The Manufacturers' Hall of Fame Inductees this year are Art DeFehr, president and CEO of Palliser Furniture, and Russ Edwards, chairman of Westman Group Inc.

And the Pioneer Award will go to Versatile founders Peter Pakosh and Roy Robinson and Puratone founder John Koslowsky.

The CME Manitoba division's March gala -- the highlight of Manufacturing Week (March 9-13) -- will be held at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.

Manufacturing Week focuses on recognizing the role of manufacturing and exporting in Manitoba. It also features educational and networking events for business leaders and students.
